You know all about resolutions and the New Year, right? Each year, countless people all over the world list down their goals and resolutions in an effort to be better persons. I was thinking, why not apply this concept to our finances as well?
I mean, take a look at the year that has just passed. How were you with your finances? How much did you earn in total? How much did you spend? What did you spend on? Do you have considerable savings? Do you have anything to show for all your spending?
There is nothing more depressing for me than to realise just how much I have earned in the past year and then have nothing to show for it. I look at some of my colleagues and they have made considerable payments towards their own house. Some have put their money into investments, and so on.
So I was thinking, why not make financial “promises” to myself? One thing would be to really set aside a part of my pay each month towards savings. At the end of the year, seeing a couple of thousand pounds – even less – added to my savings account would be a fulfilling thing already. How much more if I could actually use this money to invest and have it earn for me?
For now, I am sticking to this simple resolution. I have many other ideas in mind – like setting goals as to what to purchase. However, I believe that starting small would help and actually make it easier to reach my goals. How about you, do you have any financial resolutions that you would like to make?
